DIGITAL COMPOSITIONS

I use Midjourney and Photoshop as tools in the development of my work, but my images are not simply generated by a computer. Each series develops slowly through collecting, photographing, experimenting, and editing. I bring storyboards, image boards, photographs, and ideas to the process, and I am involved in every aspect of the creation.

The work is a back-and-forth conversation between myself and the digital tools I choose to use. I direct, adjust, reject, refine, and begin again, often working for months before a composition is complete. Years of practice, trial and error, and experimentation have given me a way of working that is distinctly my own and far removed from simply issuing a text prompt and accepting the result.

I am interested in unexpected combinations and a certain unsettling absurdity, continuing a conversation with the original practitioners of Dada and Surrealism. The finished works are produced in my Santa Fe studio as archival inkjet prints, using museum-quality papers and pigment-based inks selected for longevity.
